Artistic reproduction by Rebecca Hein exclusively for the Danish manufacturer. Printed on high-quality 265g art paper.

Searching for peace, Danish artist Rebecca Hein has created a collection of works of art that explore the tranquil depths of the ocean, the colors of coral reefs and their organic shapes. The result is the Sous La Mer collection, where art meets nature.

Rebecca Hein is a Danish artist based in Copenhagen, Denmark. She is the founder and creative director of Hein Studio. Hein Studio creates Nordic designs of high quality, good craftsmanship and aesthetic durability, created to beautify everyday life.

The products are inspired by diversity, contemporary art and architecture, which have their roots in aesthetics. Rebecca works to find contrast in different materials and colors, a variety of organic and minimalist shapes, making each design unique yet timeless.

Organic shapes, soft lines and the play between neutral colors and bright accents are the core of the works of this Danish artist and designer.

Growing up close to the ocean made Rebecca drawn to wildlife - this is where she finds most of the inspiration for her motifs and colors - both in the curves of the shoreline and the textures of the stones and waves of the ocean. “At the moment I am working with silk fabric and cotton paper. I then experiment with many different types of paints and techniques until I achieve the desired result. It's often a long process," he says, adding: "It really has to be right down to the millimeter before I consider it perfect."

Perfection itself is not what Hein tries to show with his work. Rebecca is dedicated to finding beauty in imperfection. A discipline inspired by the Japanese aesthetics of wabi-sabi.

Rebecca and her husband currently live north of Copenhagen in a small 1960s house with their three children and their dog, Bowie.

Within a short time, they had children, and she stayed at home with them for several years: “During this period, I gained a deep understanding of how important your home is, its functionality and fluidity. How important is it to surround myself with things that inspire me?

This led to the creation of her interior design brand, Hein Studio, which she runs with her husband. “I love that it gives me the opportunity to share my aesthetic and designs with the world.”
