Creative artist Anouk van Cleef strives to create whimsical designs, combining illustration techniques and graphic design to achieve her signature expression.

She grew up on a flower farm in the south of the Netherlands and still lives in the Netherlands: “I remember always going out to the fields with a notebook to draw and write. Just me and a blank page full of possibilities.

However, after graduating from primary school, Anouk stopped drawing to pursue graphic design. She says she didn't know where to start and didn't believe it could turn into something she could make a living from. But after a few years, she returned to drawing as a creative outlet: "I wanted to add more feeling to graphic design — I needed more flavor."

Today, Anouk combines his talents and knowledge in the field of graphic design, transforming them into his own creative expression.

Overall, Anouk's work is about everyday life: realizing that the little things in life are truly what it's all about and that beauty can be found everywhere.

“It's also a reminder for me,” he says. “I want people to feel like they want to crawl into my illustrations and give them a feeling of spreading pleasure when they look at them.”

Recently, Anouk has been finding inspiration in old English tile patterns, the use of colors and how shapes combine perfectly into a symmetrical design.

Anouk does not shy away from using colors. “I'm actually obsessed with color. Colors speak without having to say a single word. One color combination can make you feel comfortable, while another can make you feel energized.”

Anouk collects inspiration for motifs and color combinations in everyday life. For this purpose, he always carries a small A6 notebook with him: "I have the ugliest and crudest sketches here," he laughs. “But whenever I get an idea or an image pops into my head, I can put it down on paper and not forget about it.”
